A message from my heart

Sharing this is difficult for me because I honestly find it hard to ask for help.

However, I want to be honest and transparent about what the Tierra family is going through and the struggles many families are facing right now. At the start of the year, we began the process of obtaining my mother’s citizenship. My mother was a single mom, and I want to stress that we don’t come from wealth nor do we have family in the US. We’re a first generation family here.

She has always been deeply involved in our community, and even during our toughest moments, she’s been dedicated to helping others. Her strength and compassion have inspired many of my artworks. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for my family.

So far, I’ve paid over $10,000 in immigration and legal fees. As a full-time artist, I know these times are tough for many, and I’m humbly asking for community support. Juggling everything has been a real challenge.

My mother had her interview, and we were able to hire an attorney to go with her. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank my community for holding space, showing solidarity, and offering unwavering support as we navigated this difficult legal process.

Her interview went well, and we’re hopeful that things will move forward smoothly in the weeks ahead.

This experience has shown me that this journey is a shared one—something many individuals have gone through or are currently facing. My biggest hope is to be able to give back the same level of support we’ve received.

I’m truly grateful to everyone who stood by us, supported this cause, or helped raise awareness. In the midst of so much uncertainty, this experience has reaffirmed my faith that we’re truly here for one another.

If you’ve enjoyed my artwork and are able to help whether by purchasing a print or a painting, or simply sharing my work, I would be deeply grateful. Your support will make a big difference in my family’s future. We’re using this print to help recoup some of the funds we’ve already spent.
