“Inspired by the Renaissance era, I sought to create a modern series following a collection of dystopian characters. This is the third in the collection that represents the destruction of nature through the ego of humans.
The face paint symbolizes the vanity and self-importance we all carry as people. The “X” on the forehead symbolizes the rejection of enlightenment and peace; the alienation of individuals.
The Furby is a distorted embodiment of mass consumerism and greed. As a society, we are always looking for the next trend, feeding the fast fashion machine and treating ourselves and animals as products to be exploited.
The cross represents our sacrifice of Nature for our never-ending hunger for trinkets. It represents our blatant disregard for our contributions to deforestation and pollution; the sins of capitalism and the false sense of security within them. “
