I am deeply honored to be part of San Antonio Street Art’s 8th Annual LARGEST OUTDOOR GALLERY IN TEXAS.
This event is a testament to the power of community and creativity. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to @sanantoniostreetart, @shek_vega, and @burgundywoods for their unwavering commitment to advocating for this vibrant public space.
My mural seeks to honor the legend of the Yanaguna and the origins of the San Antonio River, paying homage to the rich indigenous culture of our region. Through the use of vibrant colors and intricate symbolism, I explore themes of new life, spirituality, and cultural resilience. Each element of the mural is a reflection of the stories that have shaped our community, and I hope it resonates with those who encounter it.
This area holds profound sentimental value for me. Growing up on the East Side, I have witnessed the evolution of this neighborhood, and it fills me with joy to see new murals breathing life into our streets.
One of the early adolescent experiences was accompanying my mother and her friends as they fed houseless individuals at this local park. My mother instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to advocate for others. This experience has shaped my perspective and fuels my passion for using art as a means of connection and advocacy.
