It is with great honor that I share the unveiling of our new sculpture at the Luminaria Contemporary Art Festival. This piece serves as a heartfelt tribute to the indigenous roots of San Antonio, drawing inspiration from the legendary Yanaguana River. It embodies the themes of nature, spirituality, culture, and healing, all brought to life through the transformative power of art.
Crafted from lights, paper mache, and various repurposed materials, this sculpture represents the collaborative vision that we have worked tirelessly to realize over the past two months. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Charlemagne Scarlett and Valley Ortiz for their unwavering dedication and creativity in bringing this project to fruition.
Witnessing the sculpture amid the vibrant atmosphere of the festival was a profoundly beautiful and surreal experience. I also wish to extend the valuable assistance of Vincent Garlisi and Joshua Anthony Rodriguez during the installation process—your contributions were integral to our success.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this moment with us. Your support means the world, and together, we honor the rich tapestry of San Antonio’s history.
